A well executed headshot is like a really good haircut - versatile for a variety of scenarios, custom designed just for you, and will last you for some time.
A great headshot can be used in many ways - from making the best first impression through your LinkedIn profile, to connecting with your clients on your website, having consistency through your social media platforms, the go-to editorial and press release portrait, to all kinds of marketing materials. You can also use it during your Zoom meetings when you have to switch your Video function off - it really makes you stand out!
But just like a haircut, you want to keep it current!
Let me share a bit about the process in working with me.
The process is simple and respects COVID 19 safety:
Arrive on time for your appointment wearing a mask. I will keep an eye out for you and open and close the door for you, and lead you into the studio. I will also be wearing a mask.
We keep a 2 meter distance at all times, and you only remove your mask during active shooting.
My camera is connected to a big monitor, so that we can see the photographs live as we are taking them! This helps us quickly address posing and clothing adjustments as needed, until we are happy with the shot we have!
I quickly narrow down the best shots for us to choose “the one” from. You get to have input here, because the most important thing for me is for you to have CONFIDENCE in the shot we have chosen.
I open and close the door for you again as I see you out, and then begin retouching your shot. You will receive it in a few days! Note that if you require more than one pose, I have the option to purchase additional ones at $100 + gst each.
Please take a moment to read my full COVID 19 safety policy.
Tips on how to prepare for your session:
Think about what message you would like the viewer to take away from “meeting you” through your headshot. This helps us with expression, posing, and choosing the winning shot!
Be clear on the usage of your headshot - is it for your website, for LinkedIn, for a press release, all of the above, are there technical requirements? This will help me decide on the most usable image crop and size for your needs. I will provide you with a couple of options if needed!
What to wear - neutral solid colours work well, unless colour is important to your brand. Structured clothing like a well fitted jacket can be a great addition for anyone. Choose your accessories wisely. You may want to remove any smart watches, and take cell phones out of pockets. Feel free to browse through Pinterest for inspiration! Bring a couple of options with you if you would like and I will help choose!
Get all of your grooming done - if you need a haircut, get that done before your headshot.
If you wear make up - wear it how you normally would, and don’t be afraid of going heavier on the mascara. Bring some make up for a quick touch up!
