Limited edition studio express sessions for dogs!

Studio Express Pet Sessions

Limited edition: only available weekdays during the month of March 2020

This is a wonderful opportunity to capture your dog’s essence quick and easy! There will be very limited slots available, as I am preparing for maternity leave and already have March partially booked. Get in touch ASAP so that we can find the perfect time for you!

How it works

  • Phone consultation - we go over how to best capture your dog’s unique personality, while ensuring they are comfortable in the process. A $100 deposit is due by e-transfer to save your spot.
  • Studio time - the shoot lasts approximately 15 minutes. Immediately after, we sit down and look through the portraits together and narrow down to the best portrait - that one that really captures their essence. Additional portraits can be ordered at this time; payment is made by credit card or e-transfer.
  • Portrait creation - I carefully retouch your portrait and prepare your artwork. Your order will be ready for pick up usually within a week.
  • Done! Bonus - you will also get a social media watermarked digital file of your purchased portrait(s) to share with friends and family.
  • Please note that GST and PST will be added to the final price. Additional portraits may be purchased separately starting at $175.

Curious about how I prepare your portraits? Here are some of the steps!

Steps in preparing the mounted print:

First, I retouch your portrait to make sure your dog looks their best - remove stray hairs crossing over their eyes, cut down on some eye goop/slobber if necessary, fine tune the tones and colours to prepare it for sharp and colour-true printing. All of these details are absolutely key in having a beautiful printed artwork!

Then, I print your portrait on thick, museum quality archival fine art paper. This involves two steps - I first print a small strip of the portrait and check that the colour, lighting, and sharpness are to my satisfaction. If not, I continue fine-tuning and repeat, until I am happy and ready to print the whole portrait.

Next, I cut the portrait down and mount it onto a cradled wood panel using acid-free mounting adhesive. (At this stage, for matted fine art prints I instead position the print into a front and back thick and acid-free mat to finish it.)

Varnish pour - I use a non-toxic clear varnish which adds a layer of protection to the surface of your mounted print.

Roll out the varnish gently, sometimes in two or three layers if necessary. It rolls on cloudy but self-levels as it dries and becomes completely clear and matte - no glare!

I finally finish the sides with a coat of white (or black if preferred) and the artwork is ready to display on the wall, or as an accent on a side table, shelf, or mantle.
